Lakshmi Narain College of Pharmacy, Bhopal on 27th April 2024 organised a workshop titled “Animal Cell Culture and its Application in Drug Testing” and was specifically targeted towards 6th semester students.The event began with a formal inauguration where Dr. Parul Mehta, Director of LNCP, welcomed the expert speaker, Dr. Pallav Kaushik, Post Doc / PhD in Biotechnology from Barkatullah University. Dr. Kaushik conducted a session that started with theoretical aspects and later moved on to hands-on training. She explained animal cell culture, subculturing, contamination, and other related topics.
The first experiment was to determine bacterial colonies in mud and their inoculation in agar media. The second experiment was to culture animal cells and determine the RBC count in a blood sample of mice. They also learned how to handle equipment and ensure safety and accuracy during the process.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Payal Saiju and Prof. Reetesh Malvi. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students and provided them with valuable insights into animal cell culture and its application in drug testing.
