International Conference on “Transforming Pharmacy Practice: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”

Lakshmi Narain College of Pharmacy, Bhopal has successfully organized a one-day International Conference sponsored by Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), on the theme “Transforming Pharmacy Practice: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” on 27th June 2025.

The conference brought together renowned scientists, academicians, and researchers from national and international institutions to deliberate on the future of AI/ML in pharmacy.

The program commenced with a traditional lighting of the lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and a Ganesh Vandana dance performance by students.

This auspicious occasion was graced by:

Keynote Address:
Prof. Anil Kothari, Director General of Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasizing the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the field of modern pharmacy. He highlighted how AI is no longer a futuristic concept but an active driver of innovation across various domains of pharmaceutical science.

Special Address:
Shri Sanjay Jain, Chairman, MP State Pharmacy Council, shared his view on AI and how it can be incorporated into Pharmacy.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Rai, Director of Administration, also addressed the gathering and wished for the success of the event.
Dr. Parul Mehta, Director of LNCP, delivered the formal welcome note and briefed on events and their highlights.
The inauguration session was formally concluded by Dr. Gopal Patel, with thanks to all the dignitaries and participants.


Technical Sessions

Session I – Topic: AI/ML in Drug Development: A New Era for Pharmacy
Speaker: Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Bioinformatics Scientist II, F. Widjaja IBD Institute, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, USA
He delivered an insightful online lecture on how machine learning is revolutionizing the drug development pipeline, including real-world applications.

Session II – Topic: In-Silico Driven Drug Discovery for Novel Heterocyclic Compounds
Speaker: Dr. Sushil K. Kashaw, Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. H.S. Gour University, Sagar
The talk focused on molecular docking, AI-based screening tools, and the role of heterocyclic compounds in developing next-generation antibiotics.

Session III – Topic: AI & ML Integrated Modern Pharmacy Education: A New Approach
Speaker: Dr. Kuldeep Ganju, Principal, SIPTec, Gandhi Nagar, Bhopal
Sir emphasized the integration of AI in pharmacy education to enhance pedagogy, e-learning, and virtual simulations for a better understanding of drug actions and formulations.


The students and young researchers presented their posters and oral presentations on AI/ML applications in pharmaceutical sciences.

The event concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony where Certificates were distributed to all winners and participants, including Prize Distribution for the best posters and oral presentations.
