LNCT Bhopal’s Mechanical Engineering Department Unveils Indigenous Sugarcane Cutting Blade for Agricultural Mechanisation
The CNC Lab of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Lakshmi Narain College of Technology (LNCT), Bhopal, has successfully designed and fabricated a custom sugarcane cutting blade for use in mechanised sugarcane harvesters. This innovation is part of LNCT’s ongoing commitment to support small‑scale farmers through affordable, locally‑made farm equipment.
The blade is precision‑machined from high‑strength steel using CNC technology, featuring four mounting holes, sharpened dual edges, and a robust design to withstand field conditions. It is engineered to replace costly imported components, reduce downtime, and improve cutting efficiency in sugarcane processing units across Madhya Pradesh.
Our students and faculty of department worked collaboratively to convert a simple idea into a functional prototype that can directly benefit farmers.
The prototype has been tested on local farms and is ready for commercial licensing. LNCT invites agri‑startups, cooperatives, and NGOs to partner for mass manufacturing and distribution.
