On the morning of December 2nd, 2023, Lakshmi Narain College of Pharmacy, Bhopal conducted a Plantation Drive in celebration of the 62nd National Pharmacy Week. The event took place at the Medicinal Garden of LNCP, where Dr. Ashok Rai, Director Administration of LNCT Group, graced the occasion alongside other dignitaries and faculty members.
The integration of a plantation drive within Pharmacy Week is a commendable initiative, emphasizing the significance of medicinal plants in healthcare. B. Pharmacy students meticulously selected and planted various medicinal herbs and plants like Bringhraj, Moringa, Pomegranate, Insulin plant, Lemon grass, Cinnamon, and more, fostering ecological consciousness within the pharmaceutical domain.
The creation of a medicinal garden holds immense value. India, renowned for its rich biodiversity, has a profound tradition of utilizing medicinal herbs ingrained in ancient medical systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani. Indigenous communities have preserved and passed down knowledge about these herbs for generations.
Now, it’s crucial to select diverse medicinal plants, considering their therapeutic properties for further research and development. In line with this, students have adopted individual medicinal plants and pledged to nurture them. Mrs. Neelima Mishra coordinated the plantation activity under the guidance of Dr. Parul Mehta, Director of LNCP.
